Who is Lord Krishna
Lord Krishna is recognized as the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the Vedic tradition. He appeared on earth over 5,000 years ago in Mathura, India, and His pastimes are described in sacred texts like the Srimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad Gita.
Krishna means "all-attractive" in Sanskrit. He is known for His enchanting beauty, wearing peacock feathers in His crown, playing the flute, and having a bluish complexion that resembles a rain-filled cloud.
As the speaker of the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna provides profound spiritual knowledge about the nature of the self, God, and our relationship with Him. He teaches the paths of karma-yoga (selfless action), jnana-yoga (knowledge), and bhakti-yoga (devotional service).
Krishna's pastimes in Vrindavan with the cowherd boys and gopis (milkmaids) demonstrate the highest expressions of divine love. His relationship with Radharani exemplifies the most elevated spiritual exchange between the Supreme Lord and His devotees.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna reveals His universal form to Arjuna, showing that He is the source of all creation, maintenance, and destruction. He teaches that regular practice of bhakti-yoga (loving devotional service) is the most direct means to attain Him.
